Start with stability
Crested geckos benefit from a vertically oriented enclosure with secure climbing surfaces, foliage, and multiple resting positions. The objective is not decoration alone; the enclosure should let the animal choose exposure, cover, height, and airflow.
Temperature and hydration
Avoid excessive heat. Use reliable digital instruments and track the actual enclosure rather than relying on room estimates. Provide a regular misting cycle while allowing surfaces to dry between sessions. Persistent saturation is not the same as healthy humidity.
Feeding
Use a complete crested gecko diet as the nutritional base. Appropriate feeder insects can provide enrichment and dietary variety. Record feeding response, body condition, and weight trends instead of judging health from a single weigh-in.
