Field-guide notes
Cubaris murina is pantropical; the Papaya form is a hobby morph maintained in culture.
Roughly 8–12 mm in typical hobby culture; verify Laurarium adults if a site-specific measured range is desired.
Soft peach, pink, orange, or papaya-toned coloration depending on individual and age.
Small conglobating isopod that uses leaf litter, wood, bark, and humid refuges.
70–80 °F (21–27 °C), with stable room-to-warm conditions preferred.
Moderately humid with a defined moisture gradient and ventilation.
Organic soil, decayed hardwood, leaf litter, and moss/moisture refuges.
Leaf litter and decaying wood, plus small vegetable and formulated-food supplements.
Keep calcium available; use small protein supplements periodically.
Generally establishes readily once mature substrate and stable moisture are provided.
Moderate-to-fast relative to many specialty Cubaris hobby cultures.
Good candidate for bioactive use once a healthy backup culture is established.
Beginner to intermediate.
Cubaris murina is widely distributed across tropical regions and has numerous hobby color forms.
